In this ultra-connected world, where (almost) anything and everything is online and traditional advertising has been transformed, businesses need to go digital. If you want to follow current digital marketing practices, or if you want to be more effective on the web, it’s time to optimize your digital marketing. Here are 4 tips for successful digital marketing.

What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing refers to all web-based marketing practices that generate traffic and enhance your online presence. This means online advertising, social media activity, search engine optimization, etc. Any company that wants to improve its web presence, traffic or visitor conversion rate has to optimize its digital strategy.

1- Good copy, bad copy

Unfortunately, many businesses publish high volumes of uninteresting or irrelevant copy, rather than posting quality content less frequently. With hundreds of thousands of articles posted daily, you need to prioritize quality, which adds value to your site while enhancing SEO.

“Quality” content should include images that relate to the subject (why not video?), should not be duplicated and should line up with a user’s search behaviour. It’s also crucial that you invest in SEO-optimized writing and its various criteria.

2- Optimize visitor and customer acquisition

If you want visitors to be loyal customers, you have to draw them in and entice them to make a purchase. If you capture their attention, they learn more about your business. You can use Google Ads, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram…they’ll know that your brand is out there!

Next, you can use SEO (well-referenced websites appear higher in search results) to capture attention, by using copy that lines up with users’ specific needs or questions.

Once you have a solid following, the next step is to leverage online sales platforms to encourage visitors to purchase your products or services. When you prioritize customer loyalty, you get return customers.

3- Remember to optimize!

A top priority of digital marketing is to direct traffic to your website, so it makes sense to optimize for compatibility with all devices (computers, phones, tablets, etc.).

A website that’s efficient, speedy, not overly “busy” and which gets straight to the point will more likely appeal to visitors and boost return traffic.

4- Connect on social networks

Social networks like Facebook and Instagram create excellent opportunities to communicate with your demographic. When you connect with social network users, they can use their own accounts to advertise products or services purchased from your company, which in turn will favour your brand awareness.
