Google Ads can be a great way to drive traffic to your website and grow your business. But it can also be complex and confusing, especially if you’re just starting out. In this article, we will walk you through the basics of creating a successful Google Ads campaign from scratch.

Questions you should ask yourself before starting

Is there customer demand?

If your customers are not searching for your product or service online, then obviously, Google Ads won’t work for you.

Who are your competitors?

The Google Ads campaign optimization and testing knowledge of your competitors is sometimes greater than your own. That means they understand which keywords, ads, and landing pages work in your niche. Investigating the business of your competitors is a good way to determine whether you can easily outrank them.

What is your USP?

The USP, or unique selling proposition, differentiates your business from the competition and provides prospective customers with a compelling reason to choose you over your competitors.

What is your irresistible offer?

What offers can you make in your Google Ads campaign that would make your prospects feel foolish if they didn’t take action? Your prospects will be seeing a lot of ads in search results. How can you stand out from them?

The structure of a Google Ads campaign

There are three main components of a Google Ads campaign: campaigns, ad groups, and ads. Each of these components is important in its own way, so let’s take a closer look at each one.

Campaigns

These are the highest level of your account structure. Each campaign can have multiple ad groups associated with it, and you can run different campaigns for different goals. For example, you might want one campaign to focus on brand awareness and another to focus on direct sales.

Ad Groups

Ad groups are associated with each campaign and contain the actual ads that will be displayed in search results or other spaces. You can create as many ad groups as you’d like, but keep in mind that each ad group should have a clear goal. This will make it easier for Google to serve up relevant ads for each one.

Ads

Finally, we come to the actual ads themselves. These are what people will see when they search for a keyword related to your business. Ads can include text, images, video, and more. It’s important to create ads that are relevant and engaging so that people will be encouraged to click through and visit your website or take action.

10-step guide to creating your campaign

Now that we’ve gone over the structure of Google Ads campaigns, let’s look at the steps you need to take in order to get yours set up correctly.

1. Know your goals

Before you even think about creating an ad campaign, it’s important to have an understanding of what you want to achieve with your ads. Are you looking for brand awareness? Direct sales? Or something else? Define your goal and use it to guide the rest of the process.

2. Do keyword research

Once you have your goal in mind, next comes keyword research. This involves finding relevant keywords that people are likely to search for when looking for businesses like yours. You can use Google’s Keyword Planner or other keyword research tools to get started.

3. Set up an account

Setting up a Google Ads account is fairly straightforward, but there are a few important steps you need to take in order to be successful. Make sure you set up conversion tracking so that you can measure your results accurately.

4. Create campaigns & ad groups

Now it’s time to create your campaigns and ad groups. Make sure each campaign has a clear goal in mind and that the ad groups you create are relevant to that goal.

5. Write ads

Once your structure is set up, it’s time to write your ads. Keep them relevant, engaging, and action-oriented so that you can get people to click through and visit your website or take other desired actions.

6. Set budgets & bids

Now it’s time to determine how much you want to spend on each ad group or campaign as well as how much you’re willing to bid for each keyword. This will help ensure that you don’t overspend but also make sure you’re targeting the right audience.

7. Launch & monitor

After everything is set up, it’s time to launch your campaigns and start monitoring your results. Use Google Analytics or other tracking tools to measure your progress and make any necessary adjustments along the way.

8. Track conversions

Make sure you’re tracking conversions so that you know which keywords or campaigns are producing the best results. This will allow you to make more informed decisions about where to invest your budget and how to improve your campaigns over time.

9. Optimize your campaigns
